AGFC Talking White River Trout Friday Night @ Dallys

THE AGFC will be talking discoveries from the 21-22 Creel Survey from our Tailwaters Friday night.

Trout Management Program Supervisor, Christy Graham, will present the program and take questions at the meeting which starts at 6PM. The Creel Survey delivers an insight into fishing habits on our tailwaters and anecdotal catch rates

Dally’s are happy to present the first of what we hope are regular briefings from AGFC staff.

From the AGFC on the details of the presentation

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Trout Management Program has completed a preliminary analysis of the 2021-2022 Creel Survey that was conducted on Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters.

This survey aimed to gather information on the number of anglers using the river and their demographics; such as preferred fishing method, resident or nonresident status and catch/harvest rates.

A new method was applied in this creel, conducting interviews from boats as opposed to interviews at boat ramps. This change in methods was driven by stakeholder input during the previous revisit of the Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters management plan and led to an increased number of interviews and a more representative sample of anglers on the river, including anglers and guides using private accesses.

The information collected from the creel survey will be influential in the future management of the Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters and informing the Trout Management Program how use of the river has shifted since the 2015-2016 creel.
