Dally’s Streamer Lovefest guests and fly fishers across the country will be able to bid on two spectacular signed Dave Whitlock brown trout prints online during Saturday night’s 10th birthday for the world’s best streamer party.
Emily Whitlock donated one of the last numbered prints, Dave signed before his passing in November, a prized piece for streamer aficionados as it portrays a male brown turning to hunt a rainbow trout colored articulated streamer.
Our own Ben Levin, who was a close friend of Dave since his youth, also donated a framed numbered and signed print of brown trout rising to a Mayfly. Both items will be auctioned off via Dally’s Facebook Page, with proceeds going to Emily Whitlock, part of our honoring of Dave at this year’s Lovefest
Dave Whitlock was an iconic figure on the White River, friend and mentor to so many, and could be said to be the father of brown trout on the White River system.
Dave’s close friend Davy Wotton will be tying examples of Whitlock’s larger streamers on the night to go into the MFC Streamer Box which will be the major prize on the night.
Joining the Whitlock ties will be flies from Swedish tyer Andreas Andersson, RIO Flies designer Brita Fordyce and White River fly designers Chad Johnson (MFC), Steve Dally (Rainy’s Premium Flies) and Alex Lafkas (Catch Flies) will be present along with designer and streamer video impresario Brian Wise (MFC).
Umpqua fly designer, Steve Maldonado, demonstrates his unique patterns as fly shows across the country; we will welcome back former Dally’s shop-rat Chris Franzen, and Missouri guide and Sage/RIO rep Jeff Trigg.
Also joining the tying crew will be MFC fly designer Kris Keller and Missouri custom tyer and feather merchant Jarrod Mathena.
Sadly KC Fly Co tyer Paul Brown had to withdraw this week afte the passing of his father, and out condolences are with Paul. The Godfather of streamer fishing and Lovefest regular Kelly Galloup is also tied up on a new fly shop construction project and will not be in town.
The real fun starts at 6:30 pm when doors open. This is no stuffy tying demonstration; interaction between tyers and attendees is encouraged. Guests will be enjoying an awesome gumbo from KT’s BBQ, provided by major sponsors Shawnee Supreme Boats, plus beverages from Sweetwater Brewery.
Entry is free, but we will be hitting you up for donations for our Lovefest Honoree. Also up for grabs will be a Sage Payload streamer rod, Yeti Products and more prizes from sponsors including Simms, Orvis, Montana Fly Co Loon products and more.
The artwork auctions will be run via the comments section of posts on our Facebook page. The two items will be posted to the page individually around lunchtime, with a time for when each will close. As with a silent auction with each bid made as a separate comment in the comments section. Bids can come from Lovefest attendees or bidders anywhere in the US. The highest bid when the time limit expires wins. Judges decision on the last bid will be final.
