THE SPRING CADDIS

“THE FLOWS ARE DROPPING AND THE CADDIS ARE POPPING”

AS with everything else release related, who knows how long the respite from high water will last, but the windows of lower flows over the past days have fired up the White River’s epic caddis hatch.

IT’s a perfect time to unveil our introduction to the Caddis with head guide Chad Johnson as part of our how to video series “The Good Oil presents”.

Chad walks through our Caddis hatch and how to hit it, and shows a low water flow rig.

Then jump on over to our new CADDIS OPUS 2020 series of articles about the hatch and the flies to use. Part 1 drops today and follow the series over the weekend.

CADDIS OPUS 2020: SUBSURFACE will be published tomorrow and CADDIS OPUS 2020: The Dry Fly published on Sunday.

It’s the equivalent of Spring Break for college kids: guides and their clients with goofy grins of anticipation. The Caddis are coming and Caddis be crazy. Even the trout seem to think so: for years we have expounded a theory that the green flavoring of our Caddis is something like catnip for trout. You won’t find our fish as hard running, crazy leaping, and generally loony at any other time of year. The fly fishers are just as addicted. READ ON THROUGH OUR CADDIS OPUS 2020
