Lines, Leaders and Lipstick: August 4 + 5

COTTER’S inaugural Lines, Leaders & Lipstick women’s fly fishing event is gathering momentum, with the launch of its website this morning.  Online registration is now open.

The August 4 & 5 event is billed as A Woman’s Fly Fishing Event for Women Who Want to Learn about Fly Fishing from Women.

Make sure you get the date down, it’s just 4 weeks out. Click here for more information including registration for events and lodging information.

Headlining the event is a two-day Beginners Class for anyone wanting to learn to fly fishing, 12 & up. The free class  is chock-full of information for the beginner! Terminology, entomology, knots, rod assembly and casting a line are the tip of the iceburg. You’ll also learn about water safety, fishing  etiquette, bug stages and how they relate to flies used, when to use what fly, and more.

You only need a fly rod/reel with line, not the full outfit and eye protection (sunglasses/eyeglasses acceptable).

At the North Arkansas Youth center in Cotter there will be workships and events Saturday including:

  • Knot Tying
  • Casting with Lori Sloas (teaching & critiquing)
  • Simms Women Fashions,
  • Fishing out of a Kayak
  • and more!

A complete schedule will be sent to all registrants before the event. Men accompanied by a female angler are welcome. All activities are free. Registration required for planning purposes.

Saturday night there will be a Meet and Greet for all women from 6pm to 9pm at Cranor’s White River Lodge.
