It’s not every day you meet a celebrity. He might not be able to sign autographs, or kiss babies, but he can sure make a lasting first impression. His name is Clyde. Clyde is a 1974 Mercury Marquis. Don’t let looks deceive you, this bad boy’s been all around the country, and seen things most fly fishermen can only dream of.
In the fly fishing world, Clyde is the equivalent to the 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT from Bullitt. Clyde’s most recent chauffer is Drake Magazine writer Elliott Adler. Elliott began his journey with Clyde in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, and passed through 7 states before reaching the Ozarks of Arkansas.
Everywhere Clyde goes, he takes a little piece of that area with him, and it’s put on his back window, trunk, or bumper. When Clyde and Elliott reached Arkansas, they were greeted by warm weather, a fresh morning dew, and the best our area has to offer.
Even though Elliott’s time with Clyde has been brief, his many stories of where they’ve been and what they’ve been through, is quite intriguing. Elliott’s adventures with Clyde are available on Drake Magazine’s website, as well as previous stories of Clyde’s adventures.
