Kelly Galloup Class For Streamer Week Jan 31

AT THE weird end of the fly fishing world, where strapping a couple of saltwater gaped hooks together and anointing them with enough fur, feather & flash for a Mardi Gras costume, there is one name that  stands tall.

The Sultan of the Strip, the Godfather of the Articulation Nation, Kelly Galloup: guide, Rainy’s Flies fly designer, fly shop & lodge owner,  author, speaker, and streamer addict.

We are stoked to announce will be hosting a Kelly Galloup Streamer Tying Class ahead of the Streamer Lovefest on January 31. Kelly will also be part of the entertainment at the Lovefest as part of the playbill of tyers.

In the class you will get to spend a day with Kelly, talking streamer design and tying techniques and learning how to tie several of Kelly’s Signature patterns, which still form the basis for every solid streamer box. This is a unique experience to learn from a true “Living Legend”.

Galloup started his fishing career at 13 tying flies for a local shop, was guiding at 16 and owned and operated the Troutsman Fly Shop in Traverse City, Michigan for more than 20 years. It was here that the foundations of his streamer techniques were crafted and polished on the big wary Michigan browns, those thoughts coming together in the seminal 1999 work Modern Streamers For Trophy Trout, written with fellow Michigan fly shop owner Bob Linsenman.

That book, and the revolutionary streamer patterns it contained, encapsulated the streamer movement in Michigan at the time, and turned the traditional “Carrie Stevens” streamer world on its head. Based out of the Slide Inn on the Madison River in Montana since 2002, Kelly’s videos, classes and seminars across the country have inspired countless tiers and chuckers of the Big Meat, for trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, pike and musky.

Our class comes with the long-awaited sequel to Modern Streamers “Streamers II” heads to the shelves, so we are expecting the flies tied on the day to be a mix of old favorites and some new patterns.

The cost will be $125 for the day which starts at 9am and run until 4. Materials are included but you will need to bring your own vise, tools and light.

Note: Due to the high demand for seats  there will be no refunds once you are booked. We will endeavor to sell your seat to our overflow list in the event of emergencies.

Ring the store on 870 435 6166, with a credit card to secure your spot.
