The area that lies between Wisconsin and the southern shore of lake Superior has got to be one of the best places a person carrying a flyrod could ever visit when the bugs are flying.
Last week I had the chance to fish the area with an old client of mine who claimed you could catch smallmouth bass on dragon fly patterns in the month of June. Well, I’m here to say he just wasn’t ” Whislin’ Dixie”. Without a doubt, six days of the best topwater action for bass I have ever experienced.
Both small and large mouth bass readily ate dragon flies with a few poppers and frog patterns thrown in; well, just because, I had them with me.
All Hail to the smallmouth of the Michigan Upper Peninsula!!
