Four Drift boats, rods, dogs kids and wives: we took the full disaster to the Buffalo River Sunday. Chad, Bill and myself, plus some good friends put in at Maumelle and went down to the 14 bridge, a 9 mile float we scooted through in about 6 hours. It was up.
I hadn’t floated the Buff at this level before, high up the banks and though deemed for “advanced canoeists only” in a drifter it was pretty laid back. The dogs and kids probably had more fun than anyone, and there was some half-hearted fishing from the guys.
Without fishing with our normal intensity it give you plenty of time to observe the banks and bluffs, the wildlife, all in all a great float. The water isn’t going to stay this high very long.
