Cotter Trout Festival This Weekend

COME ALONG to the Cotter Trout Festival kick-off Friday May 2 and enjoy the sounds of gypsy jazz band Cutthroat Trout. We were very happy to help out to bring the Fort Smith band to the stage. Its going to be a fun night.

The 13th Annual Cotter Trout Festival Kicks off with a party… Friday evening, May 2 13th Annual Cotter Trout Festival – Kick Off Party – Friday, May 2 – Big Spring Park Pavilion . The 6th Annual White River Artists Plein Air “Quick Draw” takes place in Big Spring Park from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. And following the judging we’re all invited to enjoy a full plate BBQ dinner, presented by Kathy and Roy L. Sisco. Appetizers compliments of the White and North Fork Rivers Outfitters Association and homemade desserts are part of the treat.

Dinner is served at 6.30 p.m. and is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 12.

The Cotter Trout Festival is held in Big Spring Park which is a FREE event and allows an opportunity for Cotter citizens and the surrounding region to come and enjoy a fun filled day along the White River. With vendors, art work, face painting, food, drinks, fishing and nonstop music, it’s hard to find a better place to enjoy a weekend than right here in the Ozarks during this time. Starting at 7am the Cotter VFW will be serving a full country breakfast under the pavilion followed by the parade and many other events such as the following. 

  • The Cotter Trout Dock and Rod & Reel club will also have the kids fishing hole for the kids to catch beautiful trout.
  • Also the Master Gardeners and Lowe’s will be hosting the build a project for kids a FULL day of fun and entertainment for all ages.
  • Casting with North Arkansas Fly Fishers
  • Special exhibits, unique selection of arts crafts and live music
  • White River Lions Club Charity Car Show.

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday when “Plein Air” on the White River – artists compete in a Quick Draw Event. Regional artists participating in the 6th Annual Plein Air on the White River will be on hand and everyone is invited to look over their shoulders while they paint scenes of Cotter and the White River. The “Quick Draw” competition held from 4:30 – 5:30 will be judged on site, and folks interested in meeting the artists and purchasing the paintings are welcome.  The evening continues with BBQ Dinner for all, complete with beverages, desserts, live music and fun.
