Bassin’ with Creek Master Duane Hada

With all the talk of caddis season, white bass, and hybrids, it’s easy for our customers to overlook the potential of creek fishing for smallmouth bass. No one knows more about how to capture these wily, native fish than local artist and guide Duane Hada. Conditions are starting to line up for success on Crooked Creek, and we have dates available for guided float and/or wade trips with Duane and other experienced smallmouth guides. Call us to book your date for a unique Ozark fishing experience. Enjoy this report and pictures from Duane:

One of the great satisfactions I have as a guide is taking new clients on my old boyhood stretches of Ozark creeks. Many of these folks find they need a new set of skills that are unique to fishing these native wild fish in their environments – accurate casting with lead eyed flies, reading water and cover, sightfishing skills, and the ability to manipulate fur and feathers into fooling a fish that’s as old as his length – tasks that are not easily accomplished without some experienced instruction. All of this came together this week for a father and son team from Kansas City, MO. Fishing Hada’s Craft Fur Clousers and Hada’s Creek Crawlers on long leaders and 6 weight rods was the recipe for success in the high but clear flows.
