It seems like it has been a process since Ben Levin and I were approached to contribute chapters on the White River and Norfork Tailwater for the newly released book from Stonefly Press: “50 Best Tailwaters To Fly Fish”.
Its been one heck of a gestation, through the actual process of writing to the easy to read format and collecting our images, was easier than one would imagine. There are actually 56 Tailwaters listed, broken into The West; the Rockies; the South and finally the East including famed rivers like the Henry’s Fork, Lees Ferry; the San Juan, Madison, Missouri, the Upper Delaware and Muskegon.
We were fortune to be included on a list of tailwater experts and gurus including the actual authors, Terry and Wendy Gunn, plus fellow contributors Mike Lawson, Tim Linehan Craig Mathews, Pat Dorsey, Mike Mercer, Steve Schmidt and many more, plus a foreword from Lefty Kreh. While the information on our locals rivers isn’t detailed enough for regulars, though Ben and I both tried to slide in some information for all, the book is an inspiration to hit the road and find new water.
It is a great place to start your information search, setting you up with fly shop information and times of the year, major hatch events, allowing you to drill down your search to specifics like what are they eating this week.
