Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher Gets Musky Madness

Join myself, Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher partner/manager Steve Dally, and Musky Country Outfitters’  Brad Bohen for 3 days of prime musky fly fishing in Wisconsin this September.

This is a trip I’ve been dreaming about for several years, ever since I saw Brad’s photos of monster musky taken on the fly rod. Wild, prehistoric, predatory and incredibly challenging the Musky Hunt is a natural extension of the trophy brown trout streamer fishing we have built a following on.

We sat down with Brad after his visit in March and set up a prime week in September in order to maximise our chances of tangling with large musky. Last week Brad told me that the season was on fire with the musky already hitting topwater flies. This is going to be a small group, just 6 of us, in 3 boats with Brad and 2 of his other guides. We will be casting big rods, 8-9-10wts and big flies all day, so its not for the faint hearted.

Accomodations will be shared cabins at Boulder Lodge, adjacent to the MCO headquarters. Michelle at Boulder has been great to work with and it sounds a cool place to rest and recuperate after each day’s fishing. We are still sorting out the breakfast and evening meals, lunches are including in the guide fees, and we have a plan being sorted we will put to the participants.

We will meet up in Hayward Wisconsin on Sunday Sept 11. Several guys have indicated they will be driving. If you want to fly there are direct flights out of Branson, MO, to Minneapolis. There is a shuttle from the airport (MSP) to Hayward which costs $138 for a return trip for a single traveller, but we will do a group booking once we know numbers which will bring the price down.

We will fish Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday is your home travel day. Total Cost for guiding (lunches, gear, flies, shuttles) and accomodation for the trip is $838. Deposits will be required on booking ($378).
