Fly Tying _ What Not To Do

I’VE always liked the Swittersb fly tying blog, he features some great ideas, good yarns, and has a sense of humor.

This week I stumbled over an article of the kind you don’t see often from fly tiers _ “Mistakes to Note and Correct”, showing off the one’s not so perfect for the camera. The one’s with incorrect proportions, heads crowded and the like, instead of the one perfect representation.

I think it was A.K. Best who wrote you need to tie 100 doz of a fly to really know the pattern and some days it feels like that. Ask most production tiers and thy will tell you the first one out of the vice gets sat aside for their own boxes.
