Fishing Report _ Dec-21
2009 has been a funny year on the White River system, at times the fishing has been amazingly spectacular, though wade fishers have still had to contend with unfavorable water for much of the year.
The Streamer Class – February 20
TOSSING streamers targetting White River trophy browns is a long way from indicator drifting thread midges as you can get. But it remains one of the best ways to get connected to some of the White River’s monster brown trout. One February 20 the Mountain River Fly Shop in conjunction with Michigan stream guide Alex Lafkas will host [...]
Great Day For A Young Man
IT doesn’t matter how old you get, or how many others you acquire, the memory of your first real fly fishing outfit and the trips that followed always stay with you. Christmas Day was a big day for my stepson Derrick Graham it was his 18th birthday as well. So his mom and I decided [...]
Christmas Dinner For White River Trout
Last week we showed you some of the trophy browns that the White River system is capable of producing. Well this short video, of a 1′ diameter pool at Tucker Shoal, shows why the White is such a big fish factory. There is sowbugs, caddis, crawdads and sculpins in here, and probably way more.

The floodgates are closed on both dams. Most likely this has been driven by the steady overnight rainfall. But with the Christmas-New Year period traditionally one of [...]
Winter Browns On The White
Did we mentioned the high water fishing was good? Well it seemed that everyone but the Journal was getting some much needed water time. Clint’s been sending us brown trout pics, Kevin added this pretty fish yesterday and we know Marc Poulos has been bopping them as well. So the Journal headed out with stepson Derrick [...]
What Kev Did Yesterday
WELL while you and I were doing hard time at the desk, or battling the Christmas shopping guess what Kev Brandtonies was doing. It was a pretty nice day on the river this afternoon, and Kevin, his brother Will and Clint Wilkinson were out playing on the big water. And of course Kev had to share [...]
