Fishing Report 10-30-09

STOP PRESS: Bull Shoals powerhouse shut down 10am. Norfork also Shut down.

WE have been getting good reports from the daily wadeable water on Norfork, while the White has been fishing very well either wading or boat fishing on lower flows. Both rivers should clean up fairly quickly once the rainfall eases later this morning with the generation at the time of posting.

WHITE RIVER: The White has been in fine form over the past couple of weeks. Generally flows have been between 2000 cfs and 5000 cfs, with hourly fluctuations. While Bull Shoals Lake is climbing in the current flow regime, the relatively low flows are likely due to the flood conditions downstream in eastern Arkansas.

There is also some chance the Bull Shoals power house could turn off this weekend due to flooding. It would be worth staying in contact with the flows via 870 431 5311.

Midge fishing has been very good particularly with Davy Wotton Whitetails in Black in a size 14 or 16. Davy’s Sowbug’s in Gray and Natural have also been working well. Dynamite Worms and Red San Juan’s have also been very very good, as have egg patterns.

Clint Wilkinson has also had some good activity on streamer patterns.

Remember the Bull Shoals Trophy Zone closes midnight October 31 until Feb 1.

NORFORK: The Norfork tailwater has been fishing well, with pretty consistent wading every day.

Midge patterns include WD40s, Zera Midges, and Poison Tungs have been consistent producers. Soft Hackles have also been popular, alongside the ubiquitous woolly buggers.
