Midges and sownbugs early in the day and eggs, worms and streamers late in the day has been the tale this week. But all that could be about to change dramatically this weekend depending when the proposed Habitat Work at Bull Shoals Dam gets underway. Norfork has been offering some wadeable water through the morning.
WHITE RIVER: Flows have been light during the early hours of the morning, creating a patch of moving wadeable water downstream. Its arriving at Cotter around the time we open the doors. Midges and sowbugs have been good on the upper river, midges and copper johns lower down. Try Clint’s Black Tung Midge and the Davy Wotton range of midges: Hot Heads; Whitetails and Super Midges 16s and 18 for the low water, and 14 as the flows increase during the day.
Afternoons on the high water Davy Wotton sowbugs, Dynamite Worms and San Juan Worms continue to fish well.
Remember to check the Generation Forecast for the weekend after 5pm Friday night. This should give us a pretty good guide as to flow regime for the weekend and Monday. For up to the minute reports dial 870 431 5311 to find out real time release in units.
NORFORK: Early morning wading available on the Norfork the last couple of days. Try Zebras, Wotton Midges, and Tungsten WD40s. McLellan’s UV Hunchback Scud patterns are also working well in olive and tan.
